Day 119

I've been in a boring training almost all day today. Thankfully they provided toys in the center of the tables to keep us occupied. So what did I do? I made a rose out of play-dough.

More training tomorrow...yay for me!

Day 118

I forgot to take pictures of these the other day. These little bars of heaven are from Vosges Haut-Chocolat.

Day 117

Two years ago, we had an awful hail storm come through and almost everyone in town had to get new a roof on their home. When mine got fixed, the roofers broke the railing on top of my front porch. Two years later, they finally came back to fix what they broke. Only does this look fixed to you?

An old plastic gas cap? Really?

Day 116

Bye, bye, Chicago! I had a great time and had a blast hanging out with Jade for the city!

Day 115

Jade and I had to leave the lovely Hotel Allegro and head closer to the airport to stay tonight. We're staying at the super swanky, Aloft Hotel. This place is awesome!

In honor of Pioneer Woman's hotel tours, here's the Aloft Hotel!

Our room:

Isn't this clock cute?!

Super cool lights in the hallways

Bar inside the lobby

The lobby has different board games spaced out all over the place.

The paperclip sculpture in the second floor lobby.

Ok, this has been probably the most exciting part of the hotel for us. Inside of the main elevators, they have light filled floor tiles. The elevators are lit up with blue lights. When you step on the tiles, the liquid gushes out. We rode up and down the elevators just to play with the floor.
We're easily amused.

I'm definitely sad to be leaving here tomorrow!

Day 114

This will be a picture-heavy post, but Jade and I did a lot today. We started off our morning at Delightful Pastries and it was such a great start to our self-guided food tour. We could have spent all day in there and wanted to take one of everything out of their case.

My breakfast - the Italiano Omelet with Proscuitto, Sun-dried tomatoes and Provolone cheese. Yum!

After Delightful Pastries, we headed to Old Town Oil and sampled yummy, speciality olive oils.

Then we went down to Spice Merchants and looked at all of their spices.

After we dropped off our pastries, olive oils and spices at our hotel, we headed to Phoebe's Cupcakes. We thought we'd never get there but it was worth the trek!

From top left: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Salted Caramel, Death by Chocolate, two Breakfast cupcakes and a Peanut Butter Fudgy Cupcake.

For dinner, we decided to go to Rick Bayless' Frontera Grill. So good. Oh so good. We got in line at 4:45 and this is what it looked like. When we got inside to put our names on the list, it was a 1 1/2 to 2 hour wait. So we did a little shopping and came back.

My dinner - Flank Steak.

Jade's dinner - Goat enchiladas.

Great Day 2 in Chicago!

Day 113

The reason that I got my camera for an early birthday present was because I headed to..

Chicago for the weekend to spend time with Jade!

First we headed to The Boeing Store to pick up some birthday presents for Brian:

Then we went to Second City to see an improv comedy show.

I'm so thankful that Brian gave me this ticket to come up here for the weekend!
